Political Theatres Broadcast (2023) is an 8:19 minute video, to be played on loop. The video features two news pundits from opposing stations and points of view. The video flips back and forth between each pundit, blurring their dialogue together, and calling into question how different their core values are.
In creating this piece, I researched and collected actual dialogue from news outlets, interviews, and other media sources.
Almost the entire script consists of words and phrases that were genuinely said in the media, but by strategically editing them, I re-contextualize and recombine them to expose the patterns in how these dialogues are constructed.
This manipulation reveals how the media, in its relentless pursuit of sensationalism and division, plays a starring role in shaping our collective political discourse.
